GARDEN CITY — Hutchinson Community College women's basketball overcame its largest deficit of the season Wednesday night, Jan. 21, rallying from nine points down to defeat Garden City 68-61 at Conestoga Arena.

The Blue Dragons (15-4, 10-3 KJCCC) trailed 13-4 late in the first quarter before mounting a steady comeback that culminated in a decisive fourth-quarter surge. Garden City (12-6, 7-6) led after each of the first three quarters but couldn't hold off Hutchinson's late push.

Trailing 49-48 early in the fourth, Hutchinson seized control with a 15-4 run over nearly six minutes. KaMyra Barber sparked the decisive stretch, setting up Delora Precop for a go-ahead 3-pointer before drilling one herself to extend the lead to 54-49. Barber finished with 10 points, eight coming in the final quarter, and capped the run with a three-point play for a 63-53 advantage.

Sophomore Jaden Wilson led Hutchinson with a career-high 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting and tied a career best with eight rebounds. Jamya McPherson provided a crucial spark off the bench with 12 points, hitting two 3-pointers and going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.

Katie Duncan recorded a career-high eight steals, tied for eighth-most in program history.

London Turner paced Garden City with 16 points, while Deija Robinson added 12.

Hutchinson shot 36.1% from the field and outrebounded the Broncbusters 33-29. Garden City committed 23 turnovers despite shooting 48.9%.

The victory extended Hutchinson's winning streak over Garden City to 17 games. The Blue Dragons host No. 8 Butler at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24.
