Blue Dragons fall to Dodge City in home finale, face road playoff game

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team dropped a four-set match to Dodge City 22-25, 25-20, 8-25, 19-25 on Oct. 29 at the Sports Arena, closing out the home portion of the 2025 season.

The loss on Sophomore Recognition Night and Pink-Out Night ensures the Blue Dragons (14-16) will open the Region 6 Tournament on the road next week.

After splitting the first two sets, Hutchinson struggled offensively in the final two frames. The Blue Dragons hit just .058 in sets three and four compared to Dodge City's .311. For the match, the Conquistadors outhit Hutchinson .254-.106.

Sophomores Alondra Villanueva and Jaylynn McNeill paced the Blue Dragons with 10 kills apiece. Villanueva recorded her 14th double-double of the season with 14 digs while hitting .065 on 31 attacks. McNeill hit .083 on 36 attempts.

Sophomore Kierny Follmer added eight kills on .312 hitting with three block assists. Sophomore Atlyn Proctor had six kills on 26 attacks, and freshman Mattie Galliher contributed six kills on .200 hitting.

Sophomore setter Angela Reupena finished with 31 assists, three kills and two blocks. Freshman libero Clara Oliveira recorded 12 digs, and freshman defensive specialist McKenzye Williamson added eight digs.

Dodge City held a 9-6 advantage in blocks. Kayla Cantrill led the Conquistadors with 15 kills, and Amariah White added 10.

Hutchinson sits at 7-8 in conference play, tied with Seward County for sixth place in the KJCCC with one match remaining. The Blue Dragons travel to face Butler at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in El Dorado.
