Blue Dragons Dominate the Road, Sweep Pratt in Thrilling Victory!

PRATT – The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team absolutely crushed it on the road Monday night, earning their first KJCCC victory of the season with an electrifying sweep of the Pratt Beavers at the Beaverdome!
Sophomore powerhouse Atlyn Proctor was on fire with a match-high 16 kills, sparking a game-changing first-set rally as the Blue Dragons demolished the Beavers 25-18, 25-22, 25-20. The victory extends Hutchinson's jaw-dropping winning streak over Pratt to 31 straight matches – talk about dominance!

Proctor was absolutely unstoppable, racking up 16 kills on 30 swings for a sizzling .367 hitting percentage. She also delivered a clutch solo block during a momentum-shifting 9-2 run to slam the door on the opening set.
Sophomore Alondra Villanueva was right there with her, hammering down 11 kills on 23 attacks for a solid .217 attack percentage. Jaylynn McNeill and Kierny Follmer each contributed six kills to the offensive explosion.
The Blue Dragons were red-hot all night, hitting .258 for the match and absolutely overwhelming Pratt with a 47-25 kill advantage! While the Beavers managed to out-block Hutchinson 8-2, the Dragons fired back with nine blistering service aces to Pratt's six.
Freshman setter Alexandra Garcia was dazzling with 38 assists and four digs, even sneaking in three kills on four attacks – talk about versatility!
Freshman libero Clara Oliveira was a defensive dynamo with 16 digs, while Villanueva scooped up eight digs and Lauren Vazquez added five more.
On the service line, Oliveira was money with four aces, while Vazquez and Sorelys Dominguez each delivered two clutch aces.
First Set Fireworks
The Blue Dragons seized their first lead when Mattie Galliher perfectly placed a tip into the deep corner for a 4-3 advantage. Galliher kept the momentum rolling, crushing a kill off an over-pass for a commanding 7-4 lead.
After weathering a 5-0 Beaver storm that put them down 11-8, and trailing again at 13-11 and 17-16, Proctor absolutely took over! She went on an incredible tear, dominating four straight rallies with a kill, solo block, kill and another kill to flip the script for a 19-17 Dragon lead.
The Blue Dragons closed with authority on a spectacular 9-2 run, with Proctor delivering five thunderous kills and that massive solo block. Kills from Proctor, McNeill and Follmer put the exclamation point on a thrilling 25-18 victory!
Second Set Drama
A Vazquez service ace capped an explosive 4-0 run, giving the Dragons a 7-5 edge in what became a nail-biting second set featuring eight ties and two lead changes – pure volleyball at its finest!
The Dragons surged ahead 15-12 thanks to a Proctor kill, an Oliveira ace, and a Pratt attack error. But the Beavers battled right back, scoring three straight to deadlock things at 15-all.
With the score knotted at 17, Villanueva and Galliher delivered back-to-back crushing blows for a 21-17 advantage. Pratt refused to go quietly, clawing back to 23-22, but Garcia had the perfect answer – back-to-back setter dumps that found the floor for kills and a thrilling 25-22 set victory!
Third Set Showcase
The Blue Dragons were absolutely relentless early, forcing sideouts on seven of their first nine opportunities in the decisive third set!
Leading 12-9, Vazquez stepped behind the service line and unleashed pure magic – seven straight unanswered points that blew the set wide open for a commanding 19-9 lead! The run was capped by a picture-perfect ace on a Pratt rotation violation.
Pratt showed fight, rattling off six consecutive points to slice the deficit to 19-15 and force a Dragons timeout. The Beavers kept pushing, trimming the lead to 22-20, but Hutchinson had all the answers down the stretch.
The Blue Dragons sealed their spectacular sweep in style – a Proctor kill, an Oliveira service ace, and a Follmer kill that sent the team into celebration mode!
