HUTCHINSON, Kan. — KaMyra Barber recorded her third double-double of the season and five players scored in double figures as No. 20 Hutchinson Community College cruised to a 90-51 Jayhawk Conference victory over Independence on Wednesday night, Jan. 28, at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons (16-5, 11-4) put the game away early with a dominant 28-7 first quarter, holding the Pirates scoreless for extended stretches while capitalizing on second-chance opportunities.

Barber, a freshman, led Hutchinson with 18 points and 13 rebounds while adding six assists. She shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.

Sophomore Kati8,e Duncan contributed 15 points, four assists and three steals. Freshman Whitney Brown added 13 points and went 3-for-3 from 3-point range.

Sophomore Noelle Anthon finished with 12 points, while freshman Kaia Smith came off the bench to score 12 points. The Blue Dragons' reserves outscored Independence's bench 26-4.

Freshman Jamia Taylor grabbed a career-high seven rebounds and dished out three assists.

Hutchinson shot 45.8% from the field (33-for-72) and dominated the boards 53-32, including 20 offensive rebounds. The Blue Dragons forced 18 turnovers and held Independence to just 13 first-half points.

Danaiya Stillwell-Smith led the Pirates with 17 points. Mimi White added 15 points on four 3-pointers, and Nyah Chandler contributed 11 points.

The 90 points marked a season high for Hutchinson, which leads the all-time series with Independence 44-15. The Blue Dragons recorded their ninth game with 20 or more assists and their second game with more than 50 rebounds this season.
