Arson Suspected in Winfield House Fire
Two residents escape unharmed as multiple fire departments respond to Monday morning blaze
WINFIELD, Kan. - Emergency crews responded to a structure fire at 1421 Menor St in Winfield at 8:50 a.m. on Monday, finding smoke and flames billowing from the southwest corner of the residence. Multiple agencies including Winfield Fire/EMS, Burden Fire Department, Udall Fire Department, Ark City Fire/EMS, Winfield Police Department, and City of Winfield Utilities worked together to quickly extinguish the blaze. Two occupants who were inside the home at the time of the fire were able to escape safely, and no injuries to civilians or first responders were reported.
The Winfield Fire/EMS Investigation Team and Winfield Police Department are investigating the incident, with authorities stating the cause is believed to be arson. Fire Marshal Pete Rowley is urging anyone with information about the fire to contact Winfield Fire or Winfield PD, and is asking residents in the area to review their security camera footage.
