8th Grade Girls Volleyball Bullpups Go 2-0 at Triangular
McPherson's 8A and 8B squads both topped Great Bend at Great Bend.
GREAT BEND, Kan. — The McPherson Middle School eighth-grade girls volleyball Bullpups went a combined 3-1 across two squads Saturday at a triangular hosted by Great Bend, also featuring Hays. The 8A team improved to 5-0, defeating Great Bend 25-20, 26-24 and edging Hays in three sets, 16-25, 25-17, 15-13, with coach Christine Pianalto crediting "five kills late from Cali Melton" for closing out the decisive third set, along with key contributions from Kayleigh Dilli, Cayson Harlin, Luci Redden and setters Hayden Vogelsberg and Elin Schmidt. The 8B team, now 4-1, defeated Great Bend 26-24, 25-19 before falling to Hays 18-25, 14-25, with coach Brittany Baum noting the squad "struggled getting the hang of our new line up" and will look to sharpen those roles before next Tuesday's dual at Emporia Middle School.
