8th Grade Bullpup Volleyball Teams Sweep Augusta in Regular Season Finale

McPHERSON — The McPherson 8th grade Bullpup volleyball teams closed out their regular season in dominant fashion Thursday night, with both squads sweeping Augusta in a home dual.

The A Team defeated Augusta 25-13, 25-5 to cap an undefeated regular season at 15-0. Despite some early jitters with missed passes and serves as players adjusted to new positions, the Bullpups quickly found their rhythm with support from the home crowd. McPherson controlled the match with strong serving that disrupted Augusta's offense, while excellent passing and dominant net play sealed the victory.

"We played with excellent teamwork the rest of the night," said Coach Christine Pianalto. "Our passing was great through both sets, and we played dominantly at the net. I look forward to seeing what the girls can do on Saturday at their league tournament."

The B Team also finished strong, defeating Augusta 25-10, 25-12 to close their regular season with a 17-1 record. Strong serving led by Mackee Cooke, Mylee Cooke, and Harper Zaharis powered the Bullpups to the two-set victory. Coach Ally Lusk praised the team's hustle plays and communication, calling it "a great way to end the season."

The A Team will next compete in the Patriot League North Tournament on Saturday, October 18, in El Dorado.
