Woman, child injured in two-vehicle crash at Haven intersection

HAVEN, Kan. — A Hutchinson woman and a 7-year-old girl were injured Wednesday morning, April 1, in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of K-96 and Arlington Road near the west city limits of Haven, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. when a 2014 Dodge Journey, driven by Caitlin Brooke Adams, 34, of Hutchinson, was traveling southeast on K-96 and turned left across the westbound lanes at Arlington Road. A 2013 Chrysler 200, driven by Steven Christopher Barnes, 27, of Wichita, was traveling northwest on K-96 and struck the passenger side of Adams' vehicle. The impact caused Adams' vehicle to roll into a ditch on the northeast corner of the intersection.

Adams and a juvenile female passenger were both transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. Both were wearing safety restraints at the time of the crash. Barnes was not injured and was not wearing a safety restraint.

The crash was not a hit-and-run, and no police pursuit was involved. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The crash was investigated by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
