Winfield Public Library hosts artist reception, geocaching film festival
WINFIELD — The Winfield Public Library recently hosted two community events celebrating art and outdoor adventure.
The library, in partnership with the Winfield Arts & Humanities Council and the USD 465 Winfield Foundation, held a reception honoring artist Teresa Grana Covacevich and her vibrant Mexican impressions series. Covacevich, who studied under Birger Sandzén and met and was influenced by Diego Rivera, captured the spirit of the Mexico City region through her bold, expressive artwork.
Guests heard personal stories and learned about the experiences and connections that fueled Covacevich's creative journey. The artwork remains on display at the library.
Madeline Norland provided curation and coordination for the exhibition. The USD 465 Foundation provided refreshments for the reception.
The library also hosted a screening of the 2025 Geocaching International Film Festival. Local geocaching enthusiasts attended the event, with doors opening at 1 p.m. and screening beginning at 1:30 p.m.
