Winfield High School Athletes, FFA Members Earn Regional, State Honors

WINFIELD, Kan. — Winfield High School students collected honors in both athletics and agricultural education in recent weeks, with softball players earning All-AVCTL recognition and FFA members claiming top awards at the state convention.

Softball

Seven Winfield softball players were named to the All-AVCTL Division III League team. Ava West earned second-team utility honors, while Paisley Curtis received honorable mention recognition at both shortstop and third base. Addy Phillips was named honorable mention at third base, Lauren Kelley at catcher, Mckenna Gardner at first base and Emma DeLong as an outfielder.

FFA

Winfield's FFA chapter turned in a strong performance at the 98th Kansas FFA State Convention. Haley Brogan was recognized for receiving a June Beaver scholarship, and Brogan and Ellie Samms won first place in Agriscience Division 6 — Food Products and Processing. Brogan also received her State Degree, the highest award available at the state level.

The Winfield FFA chapter ranked in the silver division for the National Chapter Award.
