Commission approves alcohol sales for Duck Jam in the Park summer concerts

WINFIELD, Kan. - The Winfield City Commission passed a resolution Monday authorizing the possession and consumption of alcohol and cereal malt beverages at Island Park. The approval, requested by Island Park Productions, establishes a temporary entertainment district for the Duck Jam in the Park Concert Series scheduled throughout the summer.


Alcohol permitted at summer Cowley County Fairgrounds races

WINFIELD, Kan. - Attendees at summer race events at the Cowley County Fairgrounds will be permitted to consume alcohol following a vote by the Winfield City Commission. The temporary entertainment district application, submitted by Old Skool Productions, authorizes the possession and consumption of alcoholic liquor and cereal malt beverages during the upcoming summer event series.


Commission awards $421,758 contract for 2026 street improvements

WINFIELD, Kan. - Winfield streets will see significant upgrades this year following the city commission's approval of a $421,758.50 contract with APAC-Kansas Inc.'s Shears Division. The company was the low bidder for the city's 2026 street improvement project, which includes work on Pike Road, West 5th Avenue, West 7th Avenue, East 5th Avenue, Loomis Street, East 8th Avenue, East 7th Avenue, East 3rd Avenue, Simpson Avenue, Ames Avenue, and Broadway Street, according to Director of Public Improvements and City Engineer Patrick Steward.


City authorizes $500,000 in bonds for Thornton Gymnasium improvements

WINFIELD, Kan. - The Winfield City Commission authorized the use of its bonding authority to finance an estimated $500,000 in Thornton Gymnasium improvements for the Winfield Recreation Commission. City Manager Taggart Wall noted that the recreation commission will be responsible for 100 percent of the project's cost, along with all associated interest and issuance fees.
