Winfield Assistant Principal, Daughter Win World Powerlifting Championships

WINFIELD — Winfield High School Assistant Principal Karla Chenco and her daughter, Atelen Chenco, a student at the school, returned home as world champions after competing at the Raw Powerlifting Federation World Championships this weekend.

The mother-daughter duo both earned top honors in their respective divisions at the international competition held in Virginia. The event drew competitors from countries including Japan, New Zealand and Canada.

Both athletes brought home world champion titles in their divisions.

"So proud of how they represented Kansas and Winfield High School," the school announced on social media Saturday.

The Raw Powerlifting Federation World Championships is one of the sport's premier events, bringing together athletes from around the globe to compete in various age and weight categories.
