Wheatland Welcomes New Detective

WHEATLAND - The Town of Wheatland’s police force grew by one this week as Detective Dwight McGuire was officially sworn in. In a ceremony during the town council meeting, McGuire took the oath of office, pledging to support and defend the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Wyoming. The addition of the “new but old retrained officer” was a key item on the council’s agenda, bolstering the ranks of the local police department.

Car Show Success Fuels Donation to Fire Department

WHEATLAND - The recent community car show proved to be a resounding success, culminating in a significant donation to a vital local service. Organizers reported to the town council that the event drew 141 registered cars from Wyoming, Colorado, and Nebraska. The event, which included a welcome party, a poker walk to local businesses, and a pinup contest, was a major draw for both locals and visitors. Riding the wave of this success, the event committee presented a $5,000 check to the Wheatland Fire Department Foundation.

Water Tower Project on Track for October Finish

WHEATLAND - Progress on the town’s water tower project is flowing smoothly, with completion expected by mid-October. A council member inquired about the project’s status during the meeting, and it was reported that the work is on schedule. Upcoming steps include coating the roof, installing the mixer and internal coating, and reconnecting pipelines and communications before the tower is filled and tested.

Parks and Rec Report Awaits Final Approval

WHEATLAND - The town council is awaiting a final version of the parks and recreation report, which is still under review by the parks committee. It was noted during the council meeting that while the council has seen a version of the report, the parks and rec committee has yet to grant its own approval and may return it with changes. Council members expressed eagerness to see the final report, though no specific details on the potential changes were available.
