Wellington Students Explore Downtown Careers, Honor Society Inducts New Members

WELLINGTON — Wellington High School inducted 26 new members into its National Honor Society chapter during a ceremony Tuesday evening at the school auditorium.

The new inductees are Izabella Angleton, Addy'line Black, Jackie Brungardt, Audrey Conwell, Wesleigh Davis, Berkeley Easterberg, Fisher Elder, Sienna Goodrum, Brett Haines, Easton Lynnes, Judith McGuirk, Laney Meeker, Corinne Miller, Isabelle Newman, Emma Norris, London Poumer, Harper Seeliger, Georgia Shinliver, Lorelei Stafford, Addi Thomson, Gracie Thomson, Mikayla Viramontes, Camden White, Madalynn Wonser, Vivienne Wright and Abbigail Ybarra.

National Honor Society sponsor Linda Chase hosted the ceremony and reception with assistance from NHS officers Kylan Gregory, Ava Bales, Adisyn Sandell and Lily Morningstar.

In a separate initiative, Wellington Public Schools' third- and fourth-grade students participated in a downtown career exploration event last week. The students visited various Washington Street businesses and organizations to learn about career opportunities.

Participating locations included USD 353 Central Office, the Wellington Daily News, Encore Dance, Rhen and Now Mercantile, Cowley Paramedic, Security State Bank, Renn and Company, BNSF Railway, Wellington Humane Society, the Sheriff's Office, Currency Corner, KanOkla, the Wellington Fire Department, the Wellington Police Department, the Post Office, Fabiola's, Arrowhead Animal Clinic and the Chamber of Commerce.

The district thanked all participating businesses and organizations for taking time to educate students about career options available in their community.
