Wellington Public Schools to Vote on $22.6 Million Bond for Facility Improvements

WELLINGTON — The Wellington community will vote Nov. 4 on a proposed $22.6 million general obligation bond to fund facility improvements and infrastructure upgrades across all district schools and facilities.

If approved, the bond would address aging infrastructure, improve learning environments and enhance energy efficiency, according to district officials. Key projects include remodeling the old ag shop at the middle school to enhance agriculture and other career and technical education programs, along with food service system replacements and other upgrades throughout the district.

Wellington Middle School improvements would include removing the old agriculture shop classroom, installing a new TPO roof, replacing windows, adding air conditioning to the side of the cafeteria, upgrading the district track facilities and paving the gravel parking lot. The bond would also fund a new space for theater productions.

Eisenhower and Kennedy schools would receive new HVAC systems with rooftop units, new TPO roofs and window replacements under the proposal.

Lincoln and Washington schools would get new TPO roofs, while Summer County Academy would receive a new TPO roof and window replacements.

Additional facilities throughout the district would see window replacements at the district office, new restrooms and entrances at high schools, new gym floors, tennis court lighting and replacement of end-of-life rooftop units at various schools.

The bond election will take place during regular voting hours Nov. 4. Voters can find more information about the bond proposal on the district's website or by contacting the Wellington Public Schools administrative office.
