WELLINGTON, Kan. — Wellington has been named one of 40 finalists in Parade Magazine's America's Favorite Small Town contest, a nationwide competition hosted in celebration of America's 250th birthday, according to the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB.

According to a post on the Sumner County Economic Development Commission's official Facebook page, more than 300 towns from across the country were nominated for the 2026 contest, hosted by Parade and Steller. Through a nationwide voting process, that list was narrowed down to just 40 finalists, with Wellington earning a spot among them.

As a finalist, Wellington was featured in a special edition released by Parade Magazine showcasing communities that represent small-town America.

"This recognition is a reflection of the people, businesses, organizations, volunteers, and community spirit that make Wellington such a wonderful place to live, work, and visit," the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB said in its post.

The Chamber thanked community members who participated in the voting process, crediting their involvement with helping put Wellington on a national stage.

"Your involvement helped put Wellington on a national stage, and we couldn't be prouder of what we accomplished together," the Chamber said.
