Wellington High School to Host Annual Back-to-School Bash Monday

WELLINGTON, Kan. — Wellington High School will welcome students back for the new academic year with its annual Back-to-School Bash on Monday, Aug. 25.
The event, scheduled from 7-9 p.m. at the high school, 1700 E 16th St., is being organized by the school's Leadership team exclusively for Wellington High School students. The gathering aims to build excitement and community connections as students prepare for the 2025 school year.
"Join the WHS Leadership team this Monday for the annual Back-to-School Bash! There will be prizes, games, food, and friends! This is for WHS Students only! Can't wait to see you there!" the school announced on social media.
The Wellington Kansas Public Schools district reported that the first day of school went well across all grade levels. In a Facebook post, the district said the day was "filled with various emotions from excitement to nervousness to scared to happy and back to excitement."
District officials noted that while some students experienced typical first-day jitters, teachers worked to help everyone feel welcome and comfortable. The post highlighted that elementary students were "smiling and enjoying their day" and praised high school athletes and cheerleaders for greeting younger students at elementary schools.
The Back-to-School Bash will serve as an additional opportunity for high school students to connect with peers and ease any remaining anxieties about the new school year through informal activities and social interaction.
