Wellington City Addresses Infrastructure, Bond Issues Amid Community Growth

WELLINGTON, Kan. — The City of Wellington is preparing for upcoming public discussions regarding a USD 353 bond issue, with the first public Q&A meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at Washington Elementary School, according to community announcements.
Residents have been asking various questions about the bond, including whether a yes vote would shut down Washington Elementary School. City officials clarified that the bond issue is not connected to any decision regarding closing or repurposing schools.
Street Maintenance and Public Works
The Wellington Street Department recently closed 12th Street between B and C streets for maintenance work, with the street expected to reopen Thursday morning. Officials advised motorists to exercise caution in the area and expect traffic delays during construction.
The city continues its regular infrastructure maintenance program as part of ongoing municipal services. Wellington's sanitation department operates refuse collection Tuesday through Thursday on various routes, with commercial collection Monday through Saturday.
