Wellington Airport to Host Open House and Car Show Sept. 13

WELLINGTON, Kan. — Wellington Airport will host an open house and cruise-in car show Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring free Young Eagles flights and community activities.
The Experimental Aircraft Association will offer free introductory flights for youth ages 8-17 through its Young Eagles program, with flights beginning at 9 a.m. Advance registration is recommended through the EAA chapters website.
The event will include a cruise-in car show featuring classic and vintage automobiles alongside aircraft displays on the airport grounds.
Breakfast featuring pancakes and sausage will be available from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for a $6 donation to benefit the local EAA chapter. Lunch options including burgers and hot dogs will be served from noon to 2 p.m. for a $6 donation.
The open house is sponsored by Air Plains Services and Horton Inc., with additional support from the City of Wellington, Tractor Supply Co., and other local businesses.
Founded in 1992, the Young Eagles program has provided free introductory flights to more than 2.5 million youth nationwide. The program aims to inspire young people's interest in aviation careers and general aviation.
Wellington Municipal Airport is located in south-central Kansas and serves the general aviation community with maintenance and fuel services.
