Varsity Girls Softball Sweeps Andale in Doubleheader
Whitfield's walk-off three-run homer caps McPherson's doubleheader sweep of Andale.
MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Bullpups varsity girls softball team swept Andale/Garden Plain in a doubleheader Monday at McPherson-Grant Sports Complex, winning the opener 7-1 behind a complete-game effort from C. Pavlovich and taking the nightcap 6-5 on Rylie Whitfield's walk-off three-run home run.
In Game 1, Whitfield led the offense with two hits and three RBIs from the shortstop position, while Pavlovich struck out 11 batters and allowed just two hits over seven innings. P. Bauer added a double, two runs scored and two RBIs.
In Game 2, Andale's R. Gibbens kept the Indians in the game with a complete-game effort, but Whitfield delivered the decisive blow with her homer, finishing the day with a home run, six total RBIs across both games and three hits in the nightcap. A. Schroeder earned the win in Game 2, striking out five over seven innings while allowing four earned runs.
