Varsity Girls Softball Splits Doubleheader at Circle
Bullpups take Game 2 after lopsided loss in opener on the road.
TOWANDA, Kan. — The McPherson varsity girls softball team split a doubleheader at Circle High School on Friday, falling 13-3 in five innings in the opener before rallying for an 8-5 victory in Game 2.
In the first game, Circle erupted for 13 runs on 11 hits while holding McPherson to just four hits, with R. Whitfield providing a solo home run in a losing effort. A. Schroeder took the loss on the mound, lasting three innings and allowing eight earned runs.
McPherson's bats came alive in Game 2, pounding out nine hits led by R. Whitfield, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored, while C. Pavlovich earned the complete-game win on 116 pitches, scattering 12 hits but limiting Circle to five runs.
