Varsity Boys Tennis Takes 2nd at Andover
Cooper Bohme goes undefeated to claim No. 1 singles title at Andover tournament.
ANDOVER, Kan. — The McPherson varsity boys tennis team scored 23 points to finish second behind host Andover (26) in a seven-team tournament that also included Hesston, Wichita Collegiate, Andover Central, Valley Center and Wichita Independent.
Cooper Bohme headlined the day with a 3-0 record and the No. 1 singles championship, defeating Hesston's Bradiden Liechty — a member of last year's Class 4A state championship doubles team — in a tiebreaker final. All four Bullpup entries reached the semifinals, with Mason Eisenbarth and Jonas Emery finishing second in No. 1 doubles, Rylan Unruh placing third in No. 2 singles and the extra-entry duo of Hayden Siemens and Parker Riemann upsetting the No. 2 seed en route to a runner-up finish in No. 2 doubles.
Kepple Butcher and Jack Boese rounded out the results with a fourth-place finish in No. 2 doubles after opening with a first-round win over Hesston.
