USD 418 VOTERS APPROVE $89.5 MILLION BOND
Both questions pass, clearing the way for high school renovations and a new middle school
MCPHERSON, Kan. — USD 418 voters approved both questions of the district's $89.5 million bond election Tuesday. Question 1 passed with 63.5% of the vote (2,290 to 1,313), providing $62.5 million for a new academic wing to replace the hex section of McPherson High School and security upgrades at Lincoln and Roosevelt elementary schools with no property tax increase. Question 2, contingent on the first, was approved with 60.2% of the vote (2,172 to 1,435), allocating $27 million to convert Eisenhower Elementary School into the district's new middle school with a projected 4.75-mill property tax increase. Results are unofficial until the county canvass on March 9.
