USD 308 announces back-to-school information

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Public Schools will begin the 2025-26 school year on Wednesday, Aug. 13, with online enrollment opening July 10 for new and returning students.
The district announced the back-to-school plans in its summer newsletter, with Superintendent Dr. Dawn Johnson expressing excitement about the upcoming year and noting "a strong sense of momentum building across our district."

Online enrollment will be available beginning July 10, with families encouraged to complete the process on a laptop or computer for the best experience. New students must call 620-615-4004 to create an account.
For families who prefer in-person enrollment, each school will host enrollment events on July 29 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Families who complete online enrollment do not need to attend the in-person events.
The enrollment fee for each K-12 student is $65, though fees will be waived for households that qualify for free meals and capped at $40 per student for those qualifying for reduced-price meals.
Johnson referenced a proposed bond election scheduled for November, noting community conversations around the measure and "growing support and engagement as we plan for the future of Hutchinson Public Schools."
The district is also making progress on its new Lil' Hawks Childcare Center, located at the corner of Adams and 29th Street.
All families are encouraged to complete free or reduced-price meal applications during enrollment, as approval helps with district funding and may reduce costs for textbook fees, internet access and college application fees.

All families are encouraged to fill out the free or reduced-price meal application. Only students with approved applications will receive free or reduced-price meals. Families who do not qualify for free meals will be responsible for paying for their child(ren)'s meals at reduced or paid rates.
Contact Nutrition Services at (620) 615-5580 or nutrition@usd308.com if you have any questions. All district menus comply with USDA standards for healthy meals.
Parents are reminded to check with pediatricians for needed vaccinations and physicals. Athletic physicals must be completed after May 1, 2025, and filed before the first day of fall practice.
