MCPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson County Commission will consider designating The Rural Messenger as the county's official newspaper during its meeting on Monday, a change prompted by a quote for publishing delinquent real estate taxes that was more than $5,800 lower than a bid from the McPherson Sentinel. The agenda also includes the approval of three new county policies regarding employee dress and appearance, food and drink in county office buildings, and the use of the remodeled 4th and 5th floors. Additionally, commissioners will review a pay request for $470,333.70 from L&M Contractors Inc. for the replacement of a bridge at Comanche Road and 10th Avenue, and the planned purchase of a mapping laptop for the GIS department for $3,236.87.
