MCPHERSON, Kan. – The McPherson County Board of Commissioners is set to approve more than $26,000 in additional costs for the widening of 5th Avenue (CR447) at its meeting scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday, July 20. According to the agenda, the board will hear from Public Works Project Engineer Elizabeth Hopp regarding a payment of $26,841.84 to Weber Road Solutions LLC for mobilization, freight, traffic control, and milling on the project. The additional expense is recommended for approval by staff and is included in the Public Works budget. Also on the agenda, Sheriff Montagne will discuss two non-elected personnel items, followed by routine items such as public input and the approval of minutes and payroll.

The McPherson City Commission will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 21, at 8:30 a.m. in the Commission Room. The agenda includes a variety of items, from event requests for "Praise in the Park," "Art in the Park," and "Neon Nights" to a nuisance abatement case at 522 N. Cedar. Also on the agenda are a series of planning and zoning items, including the plat for a new Casey's Convenience Store and the annexation of land south of Love's Travel Stop. The commission will also consider a contract for a chip seal and fog seal project, and will hear updates on the city's strategic plan, quarterly budget, and investment reports. A town hall meeting is scheduled for July 28 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss a Community Development Block Grant opportunity.

The McPherson City Commission will hold a study session on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 9:15 AM in Conference Room A/B to discuss proposed sewer rates for 2027. The agenda for the meeting includes a presentation on the new rate proposal from the Public Works department.
