Upcoming municipal meetings

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson City Commission will hold a special session at 9 a.m. Monday to discuss and potentially act on a time-sensitive agreement allowing the McPherson Fire Department to participate in broader wildfire response efforts. The meeting will take place in the Commission Room of the Municipal Center at 400 E. Kansas, with virtual attendance available via Zoom. Residents who cannot attend in person or join the Zoom call can watch the proceedings live, as the session will be broadcast on the city’s Facebook page.

The McPherson County Board of Commissioners will meet Monday to take up a range of business including a proposed update to planning and zoning fees and two memorandums of understanding that would transfer culvert maintenance responsibilities to Jackson Township and Gypsum Creek Township. Public Works Director David Bohnenblust is also requesting approval to purchase reinforced concrete boxes. Other agenda items include a presentation on the county seal from Bower Communications, a proposal for security cameras at the Noxious Weed Building and remarks from a representative of the Kansas Silver Haired Legislature, a nonpartisan body of Kansans aged 60 and older that advocates for senior issues at the statehouse. The commission meets at 9 a.m. at the county's Public Works facility, 1115 W. Avenue A.
