Union Pacific Railroad work to close 11th Avenue crossing Tuesday

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A railroad crossing at 11th Avenue will be temporarily closed Tuesday while Union Pacific conducts maintenance work at the site.

The closure is scheduled for March 31 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the City of Hutchinson. Officials noted the timeframe is subject to change depending on the progress of work.

A signed detour route will be in place during the closure. The detour directs westbound and eastbound traffic on 11th Avenue to either N. Porter Street or N. Chemical Street, routing drivers south to E. 4th Avenue before returning them to 11th Avenue on the opposite side of the crossing.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, follow posted signage and expect minor delays in the area.
