Two Arrested on Drug Charges After Traffic Stop in Arkansas City

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — Two men were arrested on multiple drug charges Wednesday morning following a traffic stop in the 300 block of East Windsor Road.

An Arkansas City Police Department officer conducted the traffic stop at approximately 3:03 a.m. for an equipment violation.

While speaking with the vehicle's occupants, the officer detected the odor of marijuana. The driver was identified as Michael Sonethip Keophohtthepha, 45, of Winfield, and the passenger as Roger Wayne White Jr., 40, of Arkansas City.

Both individuals were asked to exit the vehicle while officers conducted a search. During the search, officers located methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Both men were arrested on multiple charges and transported to the Cowley County Jail. Bond was set at $20,000 for Keophohtthepha and $19,800 for White.

The case remains under investigation.
