Traffic signalization change at W Avenue A and S Adams Street

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The city of Hutchinson, in partnership with contractor Kansas Concrete, has scheduled a traffic signalization modification at the intersection of W Avenue A and S Adams Street as part of the ongoing Woodie Seat — Phase II Project.

This phase of construction includes the reconstruction of Avenue A from Adams Street to Madison Street and has now progressed to roadway and traffic signal installation on the west side of Adams Street. As part of this work, the temporary traffic signal pole located at the northwest corner of the intersection will be removed. While the new traffic signal pole and related components are being installed, the existing signals at this intersection will be placed offline.

Traffic Impact

Beginning Monday, Oct. 6, by midmorning, the intersection of W Avenue A and S Adams Street will operate as a three-way stop. Stop signs will control traffic, and lane reductions will be in place. Drivers should anticipate changes to traffic flow and minor delays, particularly during peak hours. This stop control will remain in effect for an estimated two months until traffic signal work is complete.

The intersection also remains adjacent to the active construction zone. Residents should continue to expect construction traffic, lane changes and lane reductions throughout the remainder of the project.

The city of Hutchinson and Kansas Concrete appreciate the community's patience and cooperation during this work, which is essential to improving roadway safety and infrastructure in the area.

An image reference has been provided for residents to better understand the changes; however, it is not a direct representation of all aspects of traffic control that will be installed.
