Let's Help merger shifts future grant applications to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas
TOPEKA, Kan. — Following a June 1, 2026, merger between local nonprofits Let's Help and Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, future social service grant applications for Let's Help programs will now be submitted under the Catholic Charities umbrella. Brett Martin, vice president of community impact for the United Way of Kaw Valley, informed the Topeka Social Service Grants Committee that Let's Help had reportedly not applied for a city grant independently for a couple of years. The organizations' overlapping programs were successfully transitioned internally following Catholic Charities' acquisition of Let's Help's assets. Let's Help Board President Pat Yancey praised the move, publicly stating that entrusting the work to Catholic Charities secures the future of their services and ensures their shared mission is stronger than ever.
Boys & Girls Club of Topeka grant highlights importance of 'braided' nonprofit funding
TOPEKA, Kan. — During a review of the 2025 grant outcomes, the Topeka Social Service Grants Committee discussed a $24,300 grant awarded to the Boys & Girls Club of Topeka, which was used to track three separate success indicators for at-risk youth. Officials noted that the total does not represent the nonprofit's entire budget; rather, organizations frequently "braid" multiple funding streams together to maximize community impact and drive specific performance outcomes across different programs.
