El Dorado Swim Club Also Hit by Alleged Theft From Same Treasurer
The El Dorado Sea Dragons swim club has come forward as a second victim of alleged theft by the same former treasurer who stole from El Dorado High School's booster club, authorities say. Less than a week after the booster club reported that most of its funds for student sports and activities had been stolen, the summer youth swim team announced it had also lost money to the same individual. Board President Attie Pelnar said many families have been affected twice, as their children participate in both organizations. The swim club is working to recover funds needed for team equipment, while the booster club seeks community donations to replace missing money. The El Dorado Police Department is investigating, and the person responsible is no longer employed with the school district.

Solar Panels Tested on Irrigated Farmland Near Holcomb
Kansas Geological Survey researchers installed solar panels on underused corners of center-pivot irrigated fields near the Holcomb coal-fired plant to test whether the systems could supplement crop production while generating renewable energy and recharging groundwater. Assistant scientist Sam Zipper estimated that adding solar panels to corners of 110 center-pivot fields could match the Holcomb plant's electricity production, and the $880,000 project involves KU, Kansas State University, Michigan State University and Wheatland Electric Cooperative.

Trump Clashes With Cattle Ranchers Over Argentina Beef Import Plan
President Donald Trump criticized U.S. cattle ranchers who opposed his plan to cut beef prices by quadrupling tariff-free meat imports from Argentina, telling ranchers they should be grateful for his tariff policies while urging them to lower their prices. Trump posted on social media that ranchers need to "get their prices down, because the consumer is a very big factor in my thinking." The White House plans to increase Argentina's tariff-rate quota to 80,000 metric tons of beef, effectively quadrupling the amount exempt from 26.4% tariffs, while the Agriculture Department will seek to expedite regulatory reforms and increase processing capacity to lessen impacts on U.S. farmers.
