Kansas State University among colleges Hit by Wave of False Active Shooter Reports

Kansas State University appears to be the latest target of a swatting attack, similar to incidents that have happened at colleges and universities across the country. A wave of fake active shooter reports struck university campuses nationwide this week, part of an apparent coordinated effort that has targeted schools from Pennsylvania to Arizona with hoax calls designed to create panic and disrupt campus activities. K-State was hit yesterday. The swatting incidents, which included realistic sound effects of gunshots in calls to 911 dispatchers, forced students at multiple universities to lock down in dorm rooms and classrooms while law enforcement agencies responded with full emergency protocols to what turned out to be completely fabricated threats.
