Board approves 2026-27 student fees, eliminates several course charges
WINFIELD, Kan. — Parents of Winfield students will see some relief next school year as the board of education unanimously approved the 2026-27 student fee schedule, which eliminates several course-specific fees. While district administration noted that most charges will remain unchanged from the previous year, the removal of select course fees aims to ease the financial burden on families. Standard fees, such as the $25 middle and high school Viking Fee and various optional material costs, will remain in place.
Summer facility upgrades remain on schedule and within budget
WINFIELD, Kan. — Several major infrastructure projects across Winfield Unified School District 465 are progressing on schedule and within budget, district administration reported to the school board. Ongoing summer improvements include roof and intercom replacements at Winfield High School, along with parking lot repairs, striping and tennis court upgrades. Additionally, heating, ventilation and air conditioning replacement projects are actively underway at Irving Elementary, Lowell Elementary and the high school's auxiliary gym, alongside a new Winfield High School Agriculture Building ventilation project.

WINFIELD, Kan. — To improve response times and manage network issues, the board of education unanimously approved the creation of a full-time Technology Support Specialist position to serve both Winfield Middle School and Winfield High School. The new position will be funded without increasing the overall budget by reallocating existing student technology aide funds.
