SWEETWATER COUNTY, Wyo. — A memorandum of understanding with the Hospice of Sweetwater County was unanimously approved to install a "Letters to Heaven" mailbox outside the county Health and Human Services building. Public Works Director Gene Legerski said the small mailbox will provide a dedicated space for residents to drop off letters to deceased loved ones. The hospice organization will maintain the mailbox and collect the letters at no cost to the county.

County extends fire restrictions through early September

SWEETWATER COUNTY, Wyo. — The Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to extend countywide fire restrictions through Sept. 4. Fire Warden Alan Adams cited extremely low fuel moisture levels and recent grass fires east of Point of Rocks as the primary reasons for the extension. Adams noted that while the county has avoided large-scale wildfires so far this season, the extension keeps local regulations aligned with neighboring jurisdictions. The board will reevaluate the restrictions at its first meeting in September.
