Sumner County 4-H to Host Quartermania Fundraiser Oct. 11

WELLINGTON, Kan. — Sumner County 4-H will host a Quartermania fundraising event Oct. 11 at the Raymond Frye Complex, 320 N. Jefferson Ave.

The auction-style event will begin with doors opening at 5 p.m., followed by a meal starting at 5:30 p.m. for $5 per plate. The auction will commence at 6 p.m.

Quartermania combines elements of an auction and raffle, where participants bid on products and services donated by local businesses and vendors using quarters as currency.

"4-H empowers youth to be active in their schools, families, and communities," organizers said in promotional materials. "By building on their strengths and encouraging involvement, 4-H helps young people develop lifelong skills and grow into caring, capable leaders."

Paddle rental costs $5 for one or $12 for three. Bidding starts at 25 cents.

The menu will feature chili, soup and cinnamon rolls.

Vendor booth spaces are available for a $20 donation. Those interested in donating prizes or reserving vendor space can contact the Sumner County 4-H office at 620-326-7477 or email at success@gmail.com.

All proceeds benefit the Sumner County 4-H Development Fund and 4-H Junior Leaders programs.

The Sumner County K-State Research & Extension office is located in Wellington.
