Summer Art Week returns to Lindsborg with workshops celebrating master artists

LINDSBORG — The Smoky Valley Arts and Folklife Center is preparing to welcome artists of all ages for its annual Summer Art Week, running July 7-10, featuring hands-on workshops inspired by renowned artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Pablo Picasso.

The four-day creative intensive offers programming designed for multiple age groups, with specialized classes for children ages 4-6, youth ages 7-10, and adults 15 and older. Each workshop draws inspiration from the techniques and styles of master artists, providing participants with opportunities to explore different artistic approaches while developing their own creative skills.

"This year's Summer Art Week promises new perspectives, big inspiration, and fun for the whole family," organizers stated in promotional materials for the event.

The celebration will conclude with the center's 9th Annual Pie & Ice Cream Social on Friday, July 11, from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. at 212 S Main Street. The social has become a beloved tradition, bringing together workshop participants, families, and community members to celebrate the week's artistic achievements.

Summer Art Week represents the arts center's ongoing commitment to making creative education accessible across generations. By structuring workshops around the work of historically significant artists, the program introduces participants to art history while encouraging personal artistic expression.

Registration for Summer Art Week is currently open through the center's online portal. Those interested in participating can sign up at workshops.svafc.org, where additional details about specific workshop offerings and scheduling are available.
