Sterling Stays Perfect, Defeats Moundridge 70-50

In a highly anticipated rematch of last year's 2A State Championship Game, Sterling continued its dominance with a convincing 70-50 victory over Moundridge on Friday night.

The undefeated clash between the Black Bears (9-0) and Wildcats (8-1) lived up to expectations in the first half, with Sterling holding a narrow 30-27 advantage at the break. The Black Bears extended their lead to 46-38 after three quarters before breaking the game open in the final period.

Ekhart led all scorers with a dominant 29-point performance for Sterling. B. Smith added 12 points and Lewis contributed 10 to give the Black Bears three players in double figures. Moundridge received strong efforts from Churchill, who led the Wildcats with 21 points, and Shahan, who chipped in 15.

The victory marks Sterling's ninth straight win to open the season and hands Moundridge its first loss after eight consecutive victories to start the year.
