St. Joseph Catholic Church to host 200 student volunteers for summer service mission in McPherson
The Prayer and Action program offers free home repairs and yard work to McPherson residents — but jobs are needed to make it happen.
This June, McPherson will welcome more than 200 high school students and their adult sponsors as St. Joseph Catholic Church hosts the Prayer and Action mission program. The week-long initiative brings young volunteers together to serve local residents through hands-on community projects.
Participating students will take on projects such as painting houses and completing yard work — all at no cost to the homeowner. The program is designed to benefit residents who may be unable to tackle home maintenance on their own, while giving students a meaningful opportunity to serve their neighbors.
For the program to be a success, job sites are needed throughout McPherson. Homeowners or community members who know of properties that could benefit from the students' work are encouraged to sign up.
