Southwestern College to present 'Eagerheart' performances, Winterfest concert
WINFIELD — Southwestern College will present multiple holiday performances in early December, including showings of "Eagerheart" and a free community Winterfest concert.
The college's theatre department will stage "Eagerheart," a retelling of the Nativity story through the eyes of a tenderhearted shepherd boy, with performances at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Messenger Recital Hall. Additional performances are scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7.
The play by Mary Naidson Mazzara was presented by the college's theatre department and campus players in collaboration with Southwestern's music department.
"Eagerheart" will also be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Messenger Recital Hall, located at 100 College Street in Winfield.
The college will host its annual Winterfest concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at Richardson Performing Arts Center in Winfield. The free event, organized by Southwestern College, will feature performances by A Cappella Choir, South Kansas Symphony and Builder Band-Its presenting classic Christmas arrangements and sing-alongs.
Rather than charging an admission fee, organizers are requesting donations for the Winfield Food Pantry. The pantry welcomes financial and non-perishable food donations, especially peanut butter, breakfast cereal and canned goods. Volunteers will be available to discuss additional giving opportunities.
