South Hutchinson plans Freedom Fest Celebration for Independence Day weekend

SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The City of South Hutchinson will host its annual Freedom Fest on Saturday, July 5, featuring a full day of community activities, food and entertainment as part of the city's Independence Day celebrations.
The event, which begins at 8 a.m. at 101 W. Avenue C, will include mud volleyball tournaments, a car show, live music and fireworks, according to the city's Facebook page. More than 700 people have indicated interest in attending the free public event.
Schedule of Events:
- 9 a.m.: Kids mud volleyball
- 11 a.m.: Adult mud volleyball, beer garden opens, Freedom Cup events begin
- 11 a.m.-2 p.m.: Free hot dog feed by Oneok and South Hutchinson rebrand launch at the community center
- 12 p.m.: Kids zone with bounce houses begins (runs until 6 p.m.), South Hutchinson Fire Department dunk tank opens
- 2 p.m.-6 p.m.: "Axe it up Hutch" axe throwing activities
- 4 p.m.: Car show begins at 123 S. Main St.
- 5 p.m.: Live music starts
- 6 p.m.-8 p.m.: Kids zone foam machine
- Dusk: Fireworks show
Tyson Foods is serving as the event's "Freedom Sponsor," according to promotional materials shared by the city.
Teams interested in participating in the Freedom Cup competition can register through a link provided on the city's Facebook page. The city has indicated that official schedules and additional details will be posted soon.
