Sky Ryders Drum Corps offers free performance Monday

The Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps will present a free dress rehearsal performance Monday evening at Gowans Stadium, giving the community a preview of their 2025 competition show.
The performance begins at 7 p.m. at the Hutchinson Community College stadium, with gates opening to the public at no charge. The event offers residents an opportunity to see the corps' new DCI SoundSport production before the group begins its summer competition season.
Attendees may bring beverages but outside food is prohibited at the venue. Organizers encourage community members to make an evening of the performance, which will showcase the corps' music and pageantry under stadium lights.
The Sky Ryders are currently in their second year of rebuilding, working to establish themselves in the competitive drum corps circuit. The dress rehearsal represents months of preparation and training by corps members who will soon travel across the country for competitions.
DCI SoundSport is a division of Drum Corps International that provides performance opportunities for developing ensembles. The format allows corps to present shorter programs while building toward full competitive shows.
The free performance gives local supporters a chance to see the corps' progress and provides valuable performance experience for members before they face judges at official competitions.
Community members interested in attending should arrive early, as seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The event represents a rare opportunity to see a drum corps performance locally before the group hits the road for its summer tour.
The Sky Ryders have been working throughout the spring to prepare their 2025 program, combining musical excellence with visual performance elements that define modern drum corps competition.
Redemption Animal Rescue earned the top prize in the nonprofit division, receiving $50 for a creative float that combined pet rescue advocacy with patriotic themes. The organization's entry showcased both community service and national pride along the parade route.
The Order of Eastern Star captured first place in the organization and club category, taking home $50 for their elaborate display and community engagement. The group's entry demonstrated exceptional use of red, white and blue decorations.
Silver Dollar claimed the commercial and business division title, earning a week of free advertising for their patriotic-themed entry. The business stood out among commercial participants for incorporating community pride into their parade presentation.
Parade organizers evaluated entries based on creativity, patriotic spirit and overall presentation. The annual celebration drew participants from across the community, with local businesses, civic organizations and nonprofit groups competing for recognition.
The Independence Day parade has become a cornerstone event for the community, bringing together residents and local organizations to celebrate America's birthday. This year's competition highlighted the creativity and civic pride of participating groups.
Winners were selected by parade organizers who evaluated each entry's patriotic display, community involvement and overall visual impact. The prizes recognize the extra effort participants made to honor the holiday's significance.
The event concluded a successful Independence Day celebration that brought together multiple community organizations in a shared display of national pride and local spirit.
