KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The McPherson sixth-grade Junior Pups closed their season with a third-place finish in the school gold division, going 2-2 at the Kansas City tournament. After losses to Shawnee Mission East and Emporia, McPherson responded with a balanced attack in a win over Overland Park Impact — Kacen Kliewer scored 19 points, Landon Dodge added 11, Isaac Reasoner chipped in 10 and August Barrow had eight — before topping Salina Kanhoops behind Dodge's 23 points on 11-of-17 shooting, while Kliewer added 13 points and Reasoner chipped in 12 points.

Kliewer led the team on the season at 16 points per game, while Dodge averaged over nine points and 12 rebounds and Reasoner averaged more than 11 points per game. Barrow developed into a two-way threat, Maddox Cullinane grew as a ball-handler and defender, and reserves Adam Ousdahl, Cody Sherwood and Cade Snyder provided key minutes off the bench.

The Pups finished 21-9 under coaches Tim Kliewer, Owen Braxmeyer and Mike Cullinane and will move into middle school basketball next season.
