Planning commission approves preliminary plat for the Auburndale District Addition
SALINA, Kan. — The Salina Planning Commission unanimously approved a preliminary plat for the Auburndale District Addition, paving the way for new commercial development including a future hotel. Filed by Jeff Maes on behalf of property owner JIARONG LLC, the approved application subdivides a 9.19-acre undeveloped tract, located east of South Ninth Street near Riffel Drive, into eight lots. The site has remained vacant since 2001, but the plat will allow developers to prepare the land for future retail tenants and a new, currently undisclosed hotel brand slated for a 2.3-acre parcel on Lot 6 in the southwest portion of the site. The future hotel, situated on a corridor adjacent to existing businesses like Lowe's, will require separate zoning and site plan approvals before construction can begin.
SRH Advisors office building gets final nod
SALINA, Kan. — The Salina Planning Commission unanimously approved the final development plan for a new SRH Advisors LLC professional office building near the northeast corner of Crawford Place and East Crawford Street. The 1.62-acre site in the Wilbur planned development district, which has sat vacant since 1983, will house a 6,750-square-foot facility. The project is designed to act as a transitional buffer between the single-family homes to the north and the higher-density residential and commercial zones to the south and west.
