Planning commission approves preliminary plat for Evergreen Addition

SALINA, Kan. — The Salina Planning Commission unanimously approved a preliminary plat for the Evergreen Addition during its Tuesday meeting. Professional Engineer Matt Rowe, on behalf of developer Brian Richardson, requested the approval for a 12.09-acre subdivision located southeast of Cedar Ridge Drive and Marymount Road. The development, which replats a portion of the Cedar Ridge Addition, will feature 17 lots for future single-family residential development and one stormwater detention tract. The new subdivision will introduce a new public street and alter an existing cul-de-sac, integrating with the area's existing topography, which features a 60-foot elevation drop from the east end to the west end of the property. Richardson stated that construction is expected to begin in early spring, pending approval by the Salina City Commission.

City warns applicants of fraudulent payment requests

SALINA, Kan. — City staff issued a warning Tuesday regarding scam emails targeting individuals who submit planning applications to the city. Scammers are reportedly using public records to send fraudulent invoices requesting additional fees via wire transfer. Staff emphasized that all application fees are collected at the time of submittal and that the city of Salina will never request payment via wire transfer. Residents are instructed to ignore suspicious emails not ending in "@salina.org" and to contact Community & Development Services directly before making any payments.
