Salina school board to attend teacher contract negotiations

SALINA, Kan. — Salina public school teachers could see a $2,000 base salary increase and improved health insurance coverage as negotiations for the 2026-2027 contract move into their third round. The Salina USD 305 Board of Education has been invited to attend upcoming talks with the local teachers union, NEA-Salina, beginning at 4 p.m. May 11 at the Hageman Education Center. Provisional meetings are scheduled for May 13 and May 14 if the two sides cannot reach an agreement. Board members will be present at the 409 W. Cloud St. facility to observe the negotiations; district officials confirmed no formal board action will take place during the sessions.
