Salina Business Improvement District No. 1 Design Review Board approves signage for new downtown boutique
SALINA, Kan. — The Salina Business Improvement District No. 1 Design Review Board unanimously approved a certificate of compatibility for exterior signage at Peachy Cheeks Co., clearing the way for the new baby, children's and women's clothing boutique to open soon in downtown Salina. The approval allows the installation of an illuminated wall sign and three vinyl window graphics on the historic Teague Nelson Building at 104-106 S. Santa Fe Ave., with the condition that any significant design or material changes be resubmitted for administrative review. City staff noted that the red brick building, constructed in 1886, features a modernized 1980s-era north storefront that provides an appropriate canvas for the signage without obscuring its 19th-century architectural integrity. During the board's recent meeting, Megan Schaffer, a project manager for Lumineo Signs representing the boutique, announced the store's upcoming grand opening, drawing enthusiastic support from board members who noted the building's interior has already been renovated to welcome the new retail tenant.
