Ron Estes weekly update

Dear Friend,

Earlier this week I was honored to attend McConnell Air Force Base’s Change of Command Ceremony. We welcomed Col. Joe Wall as the new commander of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing, and we thanked Col. Cory Damon for his dedicated service to the base, airmen and our community over the past two years. I look forward to working with Col. Wall in the coming years.
I’m deeply grateful for the men and women in uniform who serve our country and call Kansas home while they’re stationed at McConnell.

Sincerely,
Ron Estes

Protecting Air Ambulance Services for Americans Act
Earlier this week I reintroduced the Protecting Air Ambulance Services for Americans Act with Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Michael Bennet (D-Colorado), and Rep. Suzan Delbene (D-Wash.).
Our bipartisan legislation will ensure all Americans will have emergency access to hospitals and specialized providers regardless of their location. Specifically, the legislation will update Medicare reimbursement rates for emergency air services.
I’m pleased to reintroduce this legislation that is so critical for Kansans living in rural areas of our state.

Ways and Means
As a Member of the Ways and Means Committee, I recently traveled to Las Vegas and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library to hear directly from Americans about the benefits of the One Big, Beautiful Bill. My colleagues and I heard from a waiter, a food delivery driver, a cattle rancher and more.
I spoke about how the tax policies in the One Big, Beautiful Bill will provide certainty to Americans and small businesses. For example, we permanently extended and enhanced the 20% Small Business Deduction, meaning small mom-and-pop and family-owned small businesses will be empowered to hire more workers and reinvest in their operations.
The One Big, Beautiful Bill is a historic legislative achievement that will benefit Kansans by lowering taxes, increasing wages, bolstering take-home pay, and protecting jobs.
You can watch my remarks in Las Vegas here, and my remarks at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library here.

Service Academy Nominations
Every year, I have the honor of nominating talented students from the 4th District to four of the U.S. service academies which include the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The young men and women who attend a service academy receive a world-class education on a full-ride scholarship. They also commit to serving in the military for at least five years upon graduation.
I nominated 4th District Kansan Dominic Dickerson to the U.S. Military Academy a few years ago. He stopped by my office to share his experience at West Point and tips on the application process. You can watch Dominic’s remarks here.
I encourage you to consider this opportunity and share it with a young person in your life. The deadline to apply is Oct. 1, 2025. Interested students are encouraged to apply online at estes.house.gov/service

Helping Kansans
As a Member of Congress, one of the most important things I do is help my constituents with problems they may have with federal agencies. If you are unable to get an answer from a federal agency in a timely fashion or have faced an issue, my office may be able to help you.
More information about how my office can help you with an IRS, Social Security, Veterans Affairs, passport, or other agency issue can be found on my website here. You can also call my district office at (316) 262-8992.

Kansas Trivia
Did you know that the center of the 48 contiguous United States is located in Kansas? The exact point is located outside Lebanon, Kansas, close to the Nebraska border. The U.S. Geological Survey determined that this was the center of gravity for the states in 1918. Visitors can find a historical marker and a small chapel at the center.
