Riley County inmate dies after being found unresponsive
Authorities say they do not suspect foul play in the in-custody death of a Manhattan man
MANHATTAN, Kan. — A 60-year-old Manhattan man died at the Riley County Jail late Thursday after corrections officers found him unresponsive, prompting a standard investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Emergency medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures before pronouncing him dead at 9:51 p.m. Riley County Police said they do not suspect foul play. A cause of death is pending the outcome of the KBI investigation. The man had been held at the facility on a $29,000 bond since his June 20 arrest on multiple counts of aggravated assault and criminal threat stemming from a disturbance involving three victims in downtown Manhattan.
