Riley County approves $53,753 design increase for IT building remodel

MANHATTAN, Kan. — The Riley County Commission unanimously approved a $53,753 design contract amendment Monday with Baker McMillan Architects to accommodate required HVAC and electrical upgrades for the county's IT and GIS building remodel.

Public Works Director John Ellermann said the increase will cover additional architectural and engineering work to place a generator on the roof, properly configure the server room and separate the building's climate controls into multiple zones. Total design fees for the $1.65 million construction project now stand at $132,603.

Commissioners also unanimously approved a $5,500 change order for the county's tipping floor project, which involves the surface area where waste or recyclable materials are unloaded at a county transfer facility.
